MENTAL OVERRIDE OVER THE BRAIN’S PROTECTIVE MECHANISM
The human brain is designed to protect us. At its core, it seeks safety, stability, and predictability.
It prefers familiarity over uncertainty. It keeps us inside the comfort zone — because historically, that is where survival lived.
WHEN SOMETHING OVERRIDES THE SYSTEM
But sometimes, something powerful happens. Something strong enough to override that protection.
A heartbreak.
Losing a loved one.
Not having food on the table.
Not knowing if there will be a roof over your head.
Losing your job.
Being bullied in life.
Moments like these are deeply painful. Yet they awaken a drive within us — a force that pushes us forward.
Because at some point: Standing still hurts more than moving.
PAIN FORCES MOVEMENT
I have experienced this in my own life. When I went through heartbreak, something shifted. Instead of shutting down, the pain pushed me toward the very things I feared. One of those fears was stepping outside my comfort zone —and pursuing acting. At the same time, a deeper purpose began to form:
To spread wellness.
To remind people that we are one.
To encourage humanity to explore new horizons — together.
That moment of pain became movement. I entered Mr India 2019 — and became Runner-Up. That was the beginning.
WHEN SURVIVAL BECOMES THE ONLY OPTION
Another defining moment came when I lost my grandfather. I had just moved to New Zealand. I had no financial means to return. That pain stayed. But it didn’t stop me.
It pushed me to keep trying — again and again —until I secured my first professional role as an IT Service Engineer at Gen-i (now Spark New Zealand). Life wasn’t done testing me.
As an international graduate without work, there were days with no food. No place to stay. Meals at the temple. Nights on a public bench. Until eventually — help came.
In that phase, survival wasn’t a concept. It was the only option.
WHEN LIFE RESETS YOU AGAIN
Just when things felt stable —everything shifted again. After 7.5 years in my role, my position was made redundant. I was in India for my sister’s wedding when I received the letter.
I returned to New Zealand — without a job. Uncertainty, once again. But once again: Pain forced movement.
THE PATTERN
Looking back, I see it clearly.Every time life pushed me into difficulty, something inside activated.
A mental override.
A shift beyond fear.
Beyond comfort.
Toward action.
THE OTHER PATH
But pain is not the only way. There is another path.
Discipline.
A disciplined life — repeated daily:
Waking up early.
Praying.
Meditating.
Practicing yoga.
Exercising.
Choosing nutritious food.
Working toward a clear goal.
Over time, something changes. The conscious mind begins to take control.
The brain says: “Stay comfortable.”
The mind replies: “We have work to do.”
REWIRING THE SYSTEM
Through repetition:
The system rewires.
The comfort zone expands.
What once felt difficult becomes normal.
THE SAME TRUTH
Whether through pain or through discipline —The same phenomenon appears:
A mental override of the brain’s protective mechanism.
One path is forced. The other is chosen.
But both reveal the same truth:
Humans are capable of going beyond the limits their brain once set.
IF YOU ARE IN PAIN RIGHT NOW
Understand this:
Your brain is trying to protect you.
But your mind —is capable of overriding it.
